Sensor Technology
Electrochemical sensors for hydrogen sulfide measurement feature compact size, high sensitivity and easy maintenance, which simplifies the operation of H₂S analyzers. Additionally, the instrument boasts low power consumption, making it ideal for battery-powered personal safety devices and portable instruments.
Like most toxic gas sensors, AII H₂S sensors require a small amount of oxygen to operate normally and generate valid signals. The sensor delivers linear output, yet it has certain cross-sensitivity to other gases, which shall be taken into account when applying analyzer data.
Cross-Sensitivity
| Gas | Concentration | Response of 7HH Model |
|---|---|---|
| Carbon Monoxide (CO) | 300 ppm | ≤ 1.5 ppm |
| Sulfur Dioxide (SO₂) | 5 ppm | < 1 ppm |
| Nitric Oxide (NO) | 35 ppm | < 2 ppm |
| Nitrogen Dioxide (NO₂) | 5 ppm | ≤ -1 ppm |
| Chlorine (Cl₂) | 1 ppm | ≈ 0.2 ppm |
| Hydrogen (H₂) | 10000 ppm | < 5 ppm |
| Hydrogen Cyanide (HCN) | 10 ppm | 0 ppm |
| Hydrogen Chloride (HCl) | 5 ppm | 0 ppm |
| Ethylene (C₂H₄) | 100 ppm | 0 ppm |
Analyzer Functions & H₂S Scrubber Options
The standard analyzer is equipped with an air pump to dilute sample gas and supply oxygen required for measurement. Alternatively, regulated compressed air can be adopted per customer requirements. A full range of H₂S scrubbers is available to safely vent sample gas to the atmosphere.

Liquid Drainage
Sample gas entrained with liquids (e.g. biogas) may damage sensors and cause unstable operation of analyzers and the entire system. This issue can be effectively solved by adopting AII's exclusive Liquid Drain System. The sample gas enters from the top of the panel and flows down to the sample block. Thanks to the specially designed structure, gas components diffuse towards the sensor, while liquid contaminants are discharged through the exhaust and drain lines, protecting the sensor from liquid damage.
Note: This system may slightly affect the response time, yet it delivers equivalent performance compared with other liquid removal solutions. The Liquid Drain System helps protect the equipment and reduce overall procurement and maintenance costs.
